DIY Aromatherapy Candles
September has arrived again which means it’s time to start preparing for the fall. And what better way to bring in the season than by making homemade candles! Not only do candles add warmth to your home and create a peaceful atmosphere, but they also provide a range of benefits to your health. Some of those benefits include alleviating stress, improving moods, increasing your focus, and improving your sleeping habits. To help you better relax this fall, we’ve created a guide on how you can make your own candles at home by using our essential oil products that can be purchased at any of our LaVida Massage locations.
What essential oils are available at LaVida Massage?
We carry a range of different oils that have a multitude of health benefits. Here are the products that we have available and a list of their benefits:
- Peppermint: Alleviates headaches, revitalizes
- Lavender: Reduces stress, and anxiety
- Eucalyptus: Promotes sinus health, reduces soreness
- Frankincense: Relieves chronic stress, reduces inflammation
- Spearmint: Promotes digestion, boosts respiratory health
Supplies that you will need
- Hot plate or electric stove
- LaVida Massage Essential Oil
- Color (optional)
- Popsicle stick and clothes pin
Placing the wick
Prepare your candle vessel by placing the wick. Choose anything from an empty jar or an old candle container. You may need to support the wick with a popsicle stick and a clothespin so it remains upright during the process.
Heating the wax
Warm your pot over a hot plate or on your stove. Add your wax and stir gently allowing it to melt. Slowly add the color and the LaVida Massage Essential Oil to the melted wax in the pot until the desired color and aroma is reached.
Transfer the wax
Slowly pour the hot wax into the container carefully to not introduce any air bubbles. Let your new candle sit until it is cool and firm to the touch. Then trim the wick to the appropriate length.
You can now light your new candle and enjoy!
